Diet
I finally realized my mission in life…..Inspire and Change Lives!
Only a person who has been there and has faced the same challenges and struggles can truly understand the difficulty, physically and emotionally, of trying to lose weight. I have been there, FACED the challenges and OVERCAME the struggles, and I truly understand how difficult it is. It's never too late to get yourself in the best shape of your life!!
If I had the option to choose my dream job, it would have to be Chris Powell's on Extreme Makeover Weightloss Edition.
Helping others transform their lives and showing them that IT CAN BE DONE is my Ambition in life. This is something I am very passionate about.
"Making the Impossible, POSSIBLE!"
What did you do?
I would not call it a diet but rather a life-style change.
After being challenged by a friend of mine, WBFF fitness model Andrey Davidenko, and speaking with a few people on what I should eat, I chose a High Protein Diet with a Moderated Carb intake. I did not completely eliminate Carbs because they are a major source of our energy. I used the "little rule" If it was originally white in color, I removed these items from my diet. These foods consisted of rice, pastas, breads, crackers, and tortillas. When it came to eating Carbs, I would eat whole vegetables, whole fruits, and whole grain cereals. When eating out and ordering a salad, I completely ate it dry. Absolutely No Dressing! Dressing takes the HEALTHY out of the salad. I also stayed away from Ketchup and Mayonnaise. I completely removed sodas, juices and any other item that are not Water. I strictly drink Water!!
I allowed myself one cheat meal a week which usually fell on Friday Nights. When going out to dinner with friends, I would eat whatever I wanted, but sticking to water as my beverage.
When it came to Exercise, I stuck to straight Cardio. I began walking for 45 minutes a day and did so for at least 1 week. The following week I began jogging, working my way to where I completely jogged for the entire 45 minutes. I am currently running anywhere from 5 to 10 miles a day.

Hi Edwin, I saw you on Weight Loss Success Stories Blog.
ReplyDeleteI know that loosing 100 lbs is possible in 4 months but I have only seen it with gastric bypass/lapband surgery, with drastic measures as they do on Biggest Loser. Where they starve themselves and work out for 6-8 hours a day. or possibly HGC drops where again your only eating 500 cal so starving yourself. However according to your info you imply you did none of these.
I have some further questions that I am sure others have too. So maybe you can answer here instead of in private e-mail. Thanks!
1. I see you did the atkins thing but do you know how many calories you were eating back in Nov/early Dec? Or can you post what a typical day of meals for you was? That would be helpful.
2. You said you walked/jogged for 45 min a day. Was that 7 days a week or did you give yourself rest day's. Did you do any weight training during the 4 months or just the 45 of cardio?
3. What happened to your loose skin? I know that skin removal surgery takes about a month of recovery so I don't know how you would have fit that in before your March 2012 Puerto Rico trip. However in your bottom picture you have no extra skin hanging anywhere. Even if you had lost the weight over time you should have some loose skin.
I replied to this comment by adding a comment underneath it in the blog!
Delete1. this has been asked a lot. I just posted a new blog with examples of meals. My daily goal was to intake from 1200-1400 calories a day.
ReplyDelete2. I wouldn't skip a day. I also had in mind that I wanted to do a 5k. Around mid December I would do cardio for almost an hour. I would jog and do the elliptical machine and mix in some core abdominal workouts. I stuck to cardio only and did no weights.
3. On this I just think I got lucky. Jogging/Running works out a major part of your core! By adding an ab routine 2-3 a week I believe also helped. It was a huge concern of mine from the start and for that reason I did do core workouts.
Hi Edwin,
DeleteI commend you on your weight loss! I too have over 100 pounds to lose...I was wondering - judging by your meal plan example, if you ate one of the breakfast, lunch and dinner meals only - that would equal out to way less than 1,200 calories a day. Is that correct, or did you also eat snacks in between?
How did you keep on track mentally? Was your focus to get the food organised and try to forget about it? Or did you spend time motivating yourself through reading, support from friends, colleagues and fellow dieters? Or did you participate in a diet scheme like weightwatchers or perhaps have professional councilling?
ReplyDeleteI first made a commitment to myself and then asked my friends for their support. As I took on this journey, the state of Alabama has a contest called "Scale BacK Alabama" in which me and some colleagues joined. This also kept me motivated!
DeleteWhen you feel like giving up, just push through It!
You look awesome great job

ReplyDeleteHello,
DeleteTo me it consist of proper nutritional intake with adequate exercise. I did a high protein low carb diet. I eat lots of chicken and eat fish as well. I took out all breads, pastas, rice, potatoes, crackers, tortillas, basically anything white in color. I also drink nothing but water since juices and other drinks as such contain lots of sugar. I did cardio for 45 minutes a day. I started of walking then worked my my up to jogging. Its something that can be done. It all about WILL-POWER, MOTIVATION, and lots of DETERMINATION!!!
